Yak Hair

Yak hair is fast becoming the natural material of choice for fly tiers who want to make larger more life-like flies.

Yak hair has a sheen similar to Polar Bear  its a solid hair, not hollow like bucktail, so it doesn’t absorb much water and casts very well. It holds its shape  providing a large profile for flies such as herring, bunker and mullet.

The slight wave in yak hair also helps “move water” the way a real bait fish would, and with it being a natural hair when its gets wet it softens making long tails flow.

This material is excellent for all types of saltwater patterns and big predator flies.
